Opis

'Backwards to the future', is one man's individual take and perception of the way technological progress has in the last 40 years impacted on our society at every level, substituting the human form in every aspect of our lives, and taken together with the economic and political influences of that time and their effects on our modern behaviour and psychology will have unforeseen and dangerous consequences for the embryonic 21st century society model of existence. The author touches on a diverse range of subject areas that challenge our species encompassing technological progress and advances, philosophy, behavioural psychology, the rich and poor divide, the 'marketing and selling of society', climate change and our planets sustainability, and its own potential to inflict Armageddon, together with Religious fundamentalism and terrorism, religion and royalty past and present influence, space exploration together with the advancement of technology and biogenetics, highlighting the race to patent the DNA that makes us what we are and how our futures may be fashioned by others with complete commercial autonomy and with no single institution or body to make or enforce transparency and accountability in manipulating our genetic makeup. The author attempts to provoke the reader to 'think again' about how they themselves see the world around them and to hopefully reflect on the subject matter concerned such as to engender not just a sense of wonder and amazement of the planet they inhabit and of the future 'benefits' of a technologically underpinned society, but to understand that there are hidden dangers that lie behind it that not only substitute the human functionality and natural behaviour that has taken some 40,000 years to evolve and that if we don't all expire as a result of our own making then we as a transient blink of an eye species on the planet may just succumb to natural earthly or solar phenomena that will be the next 6th mass extinction of any species on this planet, and that if that happens before we leave the planet as our destiny intends, that begs the question where did we really come from and why? ... think again.
