Extreme horrors demand extreme justice. An unstoppable supernatural force is unleashed on the world by two God-fearing men, who must now join its mission, or die. While the populous of the troubled Rokerville estate stir through nightmares of gang-rule and murder, two of its residents get busy: darkened by recent events, Father Fionn Malloy is digging, right at the spot where a young parishioner crushed himself to death, deep in the graveyard of his derelict church, because the angel with the weird wings told the priest there's something down there worth digging for. Prayer is but dust with no breeze to lift it. Meanwhile, the priest's closest friend, Ben Hunter, languishes in prison, waiting, because the angel who urged him to brutally avenge the gang rape of two Rokerville teenagers assures him that something is coming; something worth the waiting. Because, like those violated girls, the whole world needs an avenger, and the angel says Hunter is to be it; or at least the human part of it. She'd been punched apart and stitched back together. Her breathing was shallow-drugged. Sure, at some point she'd tidy all this away into a safe little place at the back of her mind... Something this big, though, turned that safe place into one of those cupboards where nothing fits in tidily anymore... But Fionn Malloy will learn that desecrating the burial rites of an ancient graveyard can do more to wreak havoc on the world than solve its horrors. Heads roll as the shadow of a dark avenger falls across the furthest lands, shifting shape to fit purpose; no miscreant is safe. "Oops," it jeers in a Bronx-style twang from its gargoyle mouth... Its guttural cackling congregates in the vaulted ceilings like a thunderstorm about to hail down rocks on humanity. The carnage has just begun.
