John Lee's "Dictionary of Industrial Administration" was the crowning achievement of one of Britain's finest writers on management. Lee, a former Post Office administrator, developed an interest in the problems of management following the World War I. By the late 1920s he was one of the leading management theorists in Britain, and was rapidly gaining a reputation in the USA. The 1920s was something of a golden period for British management writing, with figures such as Benjamin Rowntree, Oliver Sheldon and Lyndall Urwick emerging on the scene. Lee's idea was to harness all these ideas and talents and combine them in a single work of reference which could be a touchstone of management thought. Today, those scholars aware of the Dictionary's existence regard it as one of the best management books of all time. This three-volume set contains articles by almost 100 management experts, men and women. There are entries on industrial unrest, accident prevention, statistical methods, ethics in the workplace and a great many other topics.
