My journey began in the Sardis, Mississippi, and the very segregated South in the 1950's, only minutes away from the tragedy of Emmitt Till of 1955 in Money, Mississippi. My parents fished in the Tallahatchie River many days not knowing someday it would become a part of history. Succeeding came with many pitfalls along the way as my second grade teacher often told me I would never amount to anything and my third grade teacher slapped me so hard in error, she left her handprint on my face.
