Florence having become the seat of the Italian Government since the last Edition, numerous changes have been rendered necessary in the description of the public establishments, and considerable alternations as regards the Miscellaneous Information. These and the several corrections have been therefore brought down to the date of publication. The works of Messrs. Crowe and Cavalcaselle on Italian Painting, and Mr. C. Perkins on Tuscan Sculpture, have furnished several new facts in the description of the monuments of the Fine Arts in the Capital of Italy.
