In May 1885, Holland & Holland advertised their new trademark, 'The Royal' - intended to apply to their best guns and rifles only. 'Royal' guns and rifles have been in production since that date, the choice of the name symbolising the excellence of the company's output. A considerable number of new photographs have been added and new appendices include a detailed explanation of the development of the .700 Nitro Express cartridge and many illustrations and descriptions of very rare Holland & Holland guns and rifles.
