Excerpt from The Horrors of Wittenberg: Official Report to the British Government Sir, I have the honour to state that the Chairman of this Committee, Mr. Justice Younger, has prepared the enclosed Report on the conditions obtaining at Wittenberg Camp during the typhus epidemic of last year. The information upon which this Report is based has been collected from prisoners of war repatriated from Wittenberg, and especially from Major Priestly, R.A.M.C., Captain Vidal, R.A.M.C., and Captain Lauder, R.A.M.C., who were sent to the camp soon after the outbreak of the epidemic and who were only recently released from Germany. The Committee considered it advisable to hold back the Report until the evidence of these officers was available.
