The rapid change of our present ways of life is related to the fast changes in the scientific and technological world and its frequent innovations. Philosophy answers this challenge of the ever-changing world by searching for intercultural understanding in a globalized world. There can be no doubt that philosophy can promote intercultural thinking, decision-making and action taking, but more effort is necessary to implement this philosophical capability in children's learning and living environment. How can we prepare children to live in a global world? Can we learn to live together in a world of cultural diversity by doing philosophy?§These and other questions were discussed by international experts at the international conference 'Philosophy - globalization and cross-cultural understanding.'§This collection of articles provides insights on the role of philosophy in terms of a cross-cultural understanding in a rapidly changing world.§Mit der rasanten Veränderung der wissenschaftlich-technischen Welt, den wissenschafts-technologischen Innovationen und Durchbrüchen korrespondiert der rasche Wandel der gegenwärtigen Lebensformen. Auf diese Herausforderungen antwortet die Philosophie mit der Suche nach interkulturellem Verstehen in einer globalisierten Welt. Das Potential der Philosophie für eine Förderung des interkulturellen Denkens, Entscheidens und Handelns steht dabei außer Zweifel, aber die Implementierung des philosophischen Potentials in die Lern- und Lebenswelten von Kindern bedarf noch gewaltiger Anstrengungen. Wie können wir junge Menschen auf das Leben in einer globalen Welt vorbereiten?
