Opis

The Center for Middle Eastern Studies (CMES) was founded in 1954 to promote the interdisciplinary study of the Middle East at Harvard University. The Center's mandate has involved it in teaching as well as research on both the classical and contemporary aspects of the Middle East. Part II presents an extended account of the multifaceted operations of the Center that serve the scholarly community at Harvard and the world at large. It discusses the Center's teaching activities, especially its AM and joint PhD degree programs, and the changing profile of students in theseprograms. It summarizes the findings of ongoing efforts to survey the career patterns of CMES degree holders and provides brief sketches of the work of some of its many distinguished alumni in academia and other fields. It also looks at the Center's activities in disseminati
