Excerpt from Samples From the Note Books of an Uncommercial Traveller The following pages are reprinted from the "Diary and Buyers' Guide" for 1898, issued by Henry Bannerman & Sons Limited, Manchester. Under the title of "Samples from the Note Books of an Uncommercial Traveller" some miscellaneous sketches of a recreative kind are here submitted which may, perhaps, be found not altogether devoid of interest. In this connection the author thinks it necessary to say that, in order to adapt them to special uses, the original notes have, for the most part, been considerably abbreviated and modified, and in some cases must be regarded as little more than pegs upon which to hang pictorial illustrations.
