The greatest generation was much more than men fighting for God and country. Courageous women like Maudie Pettus made remarkable sacrifices without glory or so much as a footnote in history. In Ten Good Years, her story, one hundred years in the making, is finally told. A surgical nurse, she traveled to China with her surgeon husband, Dr. Winston Pettus, in wartime, facing challenges of healing the wounded which can only be described as a spirit of joy, working under the auspices of Yale-in-China. She thought of herself as a little Mennonite girl from West Virginia, but with prayer and perseverance, she found a way to change the world, one patient at a time.
