Author Stefania G.Gísladóttir grew up on a farm on the east coast of Iceland, the youngest of nine siblings. She married an Australian man and now lives in rural Kendenup, Western Australia. The mother of four and grandmother of two boys, she works part-time as an aged care worker delivering home and community care to the elderly. She says, "The poems knock on my door. As a polite host, I invite them in, each and every time. There is a divine feeling of fulfillment when I have communicated what I see, feel and sense into a written text, yet it may still only be a skeleton. After the idea has been written down, I may visit it many times before the poem is finalized. Two of my sisters died of cancer only six months apart. This book is dedicated to them, and the poems in the first part are directly related to that experience. In the second and the third parts, I entwine memories and happenings from different countries and continents, along with writings that are timeless.
