Which role does the vocational education play for sustainability? It allows people to act sustainably in their areas of expertise - in an economic, ecological and socially responsible sense. In model tests and with evaluation processes the Bundesinstitut für berufliche Bildung (BIBB, federal institute of vocational education) has explored with which measures this may be achieved. This publication presents the results of the funding focus "Vocational education for sustainable development". The decade "Education for sustainable development 2005-2014" named by the United Nations is the background to this text.
