Not many graffiti formations can claim having worked their way up on top of a world-wide movement. "Ma'Claim" can do so, and this book shows us why. The crew from former East Germany has had an international breakthrough which has hardly ever been seen before. With their mix of classical graffiti writing and photorealism, also called "Graffoto" in the Ma'Claim language, they have already been cause for numerous discussions within the graffiti scene. Meanwhile they got more and more fans and also imitators. But that's not such a bad thing, because "how could someone say that he likes your pieces more honest?" (RUSK) Divided into 15 chapters the book starts off with very personal and detailed portraits of each member, followed by several works and productions of the crew. First, the chapter "Weimar City" deals with techniques which simplify the production of big walls and pieces. Tricks like the can circle or the usage of a chalk lines are introduced and well explained. The following chapter "Cans & Caps" is all about the spray can itself. The single ingredients are discussed in detail, but also problems which can occur when using different lacquers are mentioned and even explained. Finally you get to know how it really works - photorealistic graffiti. With the help of step-by-step instructions for different motives (e.g. skin structures, motion blur, eyes, metal effects) this technique is being made learnable and can serve as the key to translate own concepts into action. "Ma'Claim - finest photorealistic graffiti" is an extensive collection of works, experiences and technical know-how which documents and explains a young style of graffiti on 160 pages and 415 Images.
