Trust me, if you're a fan of westerns, you've gotta treat yourself to this one. -Margaret Marr, author Smith's characters and surroundings are described in such a realistic fashion that the reader can actually visualize being there. -Susan Conrady, reader and fan I have done a lost of research on the old west for many years and can tell Smith also put in some work on his locations, clothing, and firearms in his stories. For several years he was a columnist for Old West magazine. His column "Old West Gunsmith" dealt with historical firearms of the 19th century.
