Originally published in 1890. PREFACE: In the first part of this work I have given an account of the relations which existed between the Jews - the people to whom Christianity was primarily addressed, and the Romans - the people who held together, under one common dominion, the various nationalities through which the Christian faith was destined to spread. In the execution of this task I have not carried the narrative beyond the final destruction of the remnants of the Jewish state under the Emperor Hadrian......
