This research study examined the transference of§leadership style through the top levels of the§management team at a Large Urban College (LUC). To§gather the necessary information the Multifactor§Leadership Questionnaire MLQ5X was used. The MLQ has§been in use for nearly three decades and is§considered to be the best instrument available for§examining the leadership styles of participants; the§MLQ has proven itself to be valid and reliable§(Carless, 1998; Tejeda and Scandura, 2000; Tepper and§Percy, 1994). The setting for the research is a Large§Urban College, one of the largest brick and mortar§college in the United States. LUC currently operates§eight campuses and several outreach centers. The§information gathered and the new knowledge created as§a result of this research study can be used at LUC§and other similar settings to improve overall§leadership by improving staffing, selection,§training, and leader communication patterns.
