Class conflict in Africa

The book examines the story of the African working class's struggle and resistance in Africa. It also explores the role of popular struggle and the working class in Egypt, focusing on three significant periods: the Urabi Revolution, the Nasserist experiment, and the post-Nasser era. Furthermore, it reviews how general strikes and mass protests swept through Nigeria, presenting a narrative of events with a deliberate emphasis on minimal analysis. The book also examines the Zambian trade union movement and how it formed and led the movement for multi-party democracy, culminating in the election of Frederick Chiluba as president without a clear response to workers' demands. Finally, it presents the recent history of the workers' struggle against apartheid and the state of the labor movement in South Africa after its so-called democratic transition.
