Linguistic studies in the Holy Quran (1)

Modern linguistic studies have made great strides, diversifying their approaches and using a variety of research tools to serve and analyze texts, uncovering their secrets and direct and indirect dimensions. The task of linguistic research is no longer limited to examining verbal components, but rather extends to examining the social, cultural, psychological, and environmental conditions surrounding the text, its speaker, and its recipient during speech production. This means a new, in-depth understanding of text reading, serving the text and revealing its dimensions, meanings, and connotations. Context theory represents an important turning point in semantic studies and linguistic analysis. It is the first theory to address meaning through the use and contextualization of vocabulary, and to examine the types of linguistic, social, psychological, and cultural connotations. In light of the data of semantics and context theory, this study was conducted on selected verses from Surat al-Kahf, with the aim of examining the role and impact of context in uncovering the meanings of these verses. This study consists of two parts: the first: an overview of the concept of context and its importance in linguistic studies; the second: a contextual analysis of the verses of Surat al-Kahf.
