Minorities in Ethiopia

The issue of ethnicity has become an international and regional concern, potentially leading to conflicts and disputes that threaten the sovereignty of many countries due to its connection to issues such as economic and developmental progress and political stability. In this book, the author reveals the social role played by ethnic minorities in Ethiopia, whether this role is political, economic, religious, or educational, in addition to the extent of social integration among these minorities. Through her approach, which is based on sound scientific methodology and the historical experience of minorities relevant to the nature of the study, the author reveals the reasons that Ethiopia has experienced, including the dominance of elite groups, the absence of democracy and equality, as well as exclusion, marginalization, discrimination, and the categorization of people into groups and classes. At the heart of this landscape, the author believes that the government must intervene to prevent the escalation and mitigate the effects of conflicts by inviting the conflicting parties to dialogue and discussion, involving a third party to mediate, establishing institutional structures to address contentious issues, promoting peace and development, and encouraging positive behavioral changes among the conflicting parties.
