My teachers

Perhaps no one has celebrated their teachers as much as Khairy Shalabi. The truth is that these teachers were not just his teachers, but teachers for all the generations that lived alongside them and followed them. Their influence on Egyptian and Arab literature, culture, and thought was-and continues to be-unparalleled. He says of Taha Hussein: "e;I believe that the glow of Dr. Taha Hussein has not-and will not-be extinguished in our lifetimes. He is an ever-present reality. We can engage in dialogue with him about the dozens and hundreds of issues and opinions he raised, which remain alive today. Because they all related to life, humanity, and national pride, and they strived to place us rightfully at the heart of the modern era... He says of Tawfiq al-Hakim:... The most difficult task, in my opinion, was the one undertaken by al-Hakim in liberating the Arabic style from the hum of empty literature, with its rhetorical embellishments, alliteration, antithesis, and prolixity, and so on. He also liberated it from monotonous rhetoric and the false rhetorical glow that gives you polished, cast, and polished sentences. But it does not strike true roots in the land of meaning, or in any land. Regarding Yahya Haqqi, he says:Yahya Haqqi's magic wand extends, creeping into our hearts like a revival, like the effect of a healing medicine. With its compassionate tip, it touches the embers hidden beneath the ashes of the years and the daily worries that intrude on our authentic Arab conscience, brimming with humanity. Great values, intimate customs, and beliefs rich in human emotions quickly awaken within the soul. Regarding Naguib Mahfouz, he writes:Naguib Mahfouz is truly renewed in an astonishing way. His vast artistic world constantly pushes him to invent angles and areas of vision through which he can uncover the most minute details that make up his world, so that it seems as if this world of his is endless, and his capacity for renewal and innovation is limitless. And about Youssef Idris, he writes in his obituary: It is never enough for me never, never nor does it console me that Youssef Idris remains immortal in the conscience of humanity and alive on the tongues of generations, and other such phrases like a painkiller. This does not console me even if it is true nor is it enough for me to pull out one of his intimate, valuable books in moments of longing. Rather, I must see him with my own eyes.
