Slogans have become a defining feature of political and social life in Egypt since the January 25 Revolution and its aftermath. They have been employed to express the desire for the removal of the political regime and the unjust social structure. The concepts and definitions of slogans have varied across different spheres of life in societies, influenced by the specializations of those defining them. In the economic sphere, slogans have been linked to product promotion; in the social sphere, to social norms; in the religious sphere, to religious doctrines and laws; and in the political sphere, to intellectual and political ideology. The Arab world has witnessed a significant surge in the role of social media. Facebook posts and Twitter tweets played a major role in paving the way for the revolution, inciting it, and motivating its continuation. The Egyptian revolution was dubbed the "e;Facebook Revolution"e; to reflect a strong conviction in the pivotal role of social media in igniting it. These methods included formulating and disseminating slogans. They also provided a broad communication space, allowing the revolutionary discourse, with its arguments and convictions, to reach a vast segment of young people, thus playing a significant role in creating revolutionary consciousness. Because the call for events was made through social media networks, with complete disregard from official state-controlled media, young people sought alternative media to present slogans expressing the revolution's demands and goals. Social media became a platform for expressing these slogans. The slogans evolved as the situation developed. During the call for revolution, slogans emerged demanding reform and social and economic rights. These evolved, after the revolution gained momentum, to call for the overthrow of the regime, and then, in the post-regime phase, to express the persistence in the revolution's demands. This study analyzes the political slogans presented on the social media platforms Facebook and Twitter during the January 25 Revolution, from January 25, 2011, until the election of a president on June 30, 2012.
