Secrets Behind Closed Doors

In Cherbourg, Mégane is building a future she can finally call her own. She shares a home with Charly, prepares their wedding, and begins a new role at Littoral Services. Drawing on her experience as a housekeeper, she develops training sessions that help employees understand their rights and protect their time. Yet the habits of her former life remain: taking responsibility for everything, anticipating other people's needs, and struggling to believe she can refuse. When Sabine, her manager, presents Passerelles, a program offering training, housing, and employment opportunities to domestic workers, Mégane wants to help. Then she discovers that Étienne de Valençay, her former employer, is involved. Returning to his world means confronting memories she has never entirely escaped. This time, however, she arrives with a defined assignment, professional support, and questions she intends to have answered. At a luxurious estate near Barfleur, the program's generous promises begin to unravel. Employment arrangements are unclear, schedules change without notice, and service duties are treated as voluntary participation. Anne finds discrepancies in her recorded hours. Julie discovers that a private image of her has circulated. Behind the elegant rooms and reassuring speeches, the women face uncertainty about their privacy, their housing, and their ability to say no.Mégane and Sabine compare records, request explanations, and preserve the evidence entrusted to them. Denise and Léa, the owners of Deux Tabliers, discover that a document bearing their business's name lists an amount different from their invoice. Bertrand provides information about instructions he helped carry out, acknowledging his own involvement. Kim contributes files to a careful examination of the digital evidence. Each discovery demands patience: suspicion alone cannot establish responsibility, and exposing wrongdoing must not expose the women further. As tensions grow, the controversy reaches the Café du Bassin, where Charly works with Farid. Mégane's determination strains her relationship and threatens to consume every quiet moment they share. Their wedding preparations become a reminder that their life together deserves attention even while other people need help. Around them, Clotilde and Maélie, Claire and Nina, and Denise and Léa negotiate their own relationships, balancing tenderness, desire, work, and independence. In Audierne, Mégane and Charly marry among family and friends. Their happiness exists alongside unfinished claims and unanswered questions. After an access-system failure at the estate reveals further problems, Sabine suspends the partnership despite its financial importance to Littoral Services. Corrections follow, individual cases move forward, and the program's public image faces scrutiny, but no single outcome resolves every woman's experience.Through her diary, Mégane learns that helping does not mean taking possession of another person's story. She can preserve evidence, respect confidences, and step back when others take over. Her freedom grows through ordinary choices: sharing a meal with Charly, protecting their intimacy, opening a fresh notebook, and carrying the key to a home where she needs no permission to return.
