Silence is my language

Saba was forced to leave everything she loved behind: her books, her studies, and the private world she had painstakingly built, step by step, far removed from her community and the status everyone wanted to impose on her: to grow up, marry, have children, and never leave her home. But she refused to give up and resisted, even after she, her mother, and her brother packed their belongings and began their journey to a refugee camp, far from the war and destruction. There, in the camp, she found refuge from the harshness of the desert and its people only in her mute brother, Hajos, and the aid workers' promises to build a school soon. But in the desert-surrounded shelter, promises became mere empty words, and dreams struggled to remain afloat. This is the story of a smart and courageous woman, and also an insider's view of life in a refugee camp, of what exile means, and of the struggle to survive and preserve the essence of love. It is the story of women who stand up to a society waging war against them to subjugate them, yet they resist despite everything.
