Sweet As Sin

Sweet As Sin   By A.R. Black She only wanted to win the Harvest Festival.Bea Hollowell bakes the best blackberry pie of her life from fruit she should never have picked — and watches her entire school eat it.Within days, her classmates are sick in ways that don't have names. Purple veins branching under their skin. Seeds coughing up from lungs. Plant matter where organs should be. And something enormous and ancient and furious is growing through the ground beneath the village, reaching for the blood it was promised.Bea didn't know about the Bramble Bride. She didn't know the hedge on North Lane was a grave. She didn't know that three hundred and eighty years of rage can live in a root system and wait. She knows now. And she has eighteen days to end it before the blood moon collects what she accidentally fed.Sweet as Sin is a gothic YA horror about folk knowledge passed down in kitchens, the cost of waking things that were buried for a reason, and what it means to understand your enemy well enough to grieve her.
