Technical Stop

Sigrid Nyquist flew freight into villages in this state for fifteen years and came home at thirty-six to run her father's company when his heart went. Eight years later she owns the only ground handler at Ted Stevens that never runs out of fluid and whose crews never quit. Sixty people. Three hundred acres. A reputation for reading every line of every page anybody hands her before she signs it. She is also selling. Nineteen million dollars, a buyer from Dallas in her conference room, and twelve days to closing, because the one thing she cannot buy with any of it is a building without her father's name on the front of it. Then on a Monday in January, six freighters take on fuel that none of them needed, and a woman who has read everything in her own building for eight years finds out she has been reading the wrong thing. There is a courier in a white van who comes only when the weather is bad. There is a loadmaster who wrote something down in 2019 and died on the Glenn Highway seven weeks later. There is a lawyer on the other side of the table who is the first man in nine years to want something that is not on her field. And there is a very polite old man on Hillside Drive who cooks halibut, and asks about her mother, and has never once in thirty-one years said a sentence anybody could repeat. By four in the morning on the thirteenth of February she will be standing at the edge of her own de-icing pad in a blizzard with a federal agent on one side of her and twenty-two minutes of holdover running, and everything she has will be sitting under a stranger's arm in a buff envelope. A Books By Barron erotic thriller. Very explicit throughout. Adults only. Written by Barron Darby.
