This is the true story of New Direction Farm: a Christian therapeutic boardingschool for teenagers on top of a high mountain in middle-of-nowhereMadison County, North Carolina. Here, you will meet many people, but themain players are a stockbroker, a therapist, a marine, a hermit, and a prodigal son. Leaving their careers and starting from scratch, Bridget and David Walls followedthe call of the Lord to go and find a place set apart for the healing of youth andtheir families. Rather than moving a mountain, God called them to a mountain. With the help of many hands and pockets of followers of Jesus Christ, NewDirection Farm became a thriving community. According to the couple, God wascalling us to do life with the teenagers to put aside all the diagnoses and simplyteach them how to engage as contributing members of community. The values ofrespect and responsibility were the plumb lines from which each would operate. Since opening its doors, over three hundred teenagers have lived on New DirectionFarm over a seventeen-year period. Through faith and God s mercy and love the Walls have been able to remain committed, through thick and thin. Now, meetthem and all the other amazing people New Direction Farm has helped.
