When the Sky returned

Some encounters change a life. Others may change an entire world. Northern California, 1987. Twelve-year-old Daniel Mercer hears a strange signal in the forest at night. Three notes. A pause. Two. Three. What he discovers beneath the redwoods should not exist: an injured being from another world. Daniel, his younger sister Lucy, and their friend Jonah call it Ari. For nine extraordinary days, the children share a secret no one would ever believe. Then Ari disappears. Nearly forty years later, Daniel has learned to doubt his own memories. The boy who once believed in the impossible has become a quiet repairman of old radios, living a life built around things he understands. Until one night, digital systems across the world fall silent. And radios that are not even connected to power begin transmitting the same impossible pattern. Three notes. A pause. Two. Three. Then one of them says Daniel's name. Ari has returned. But this is not a nostalgic reunion. Something has discovered Earth. An intelligence older and more powerful than anything humanity has ever encountered is watching our species and asking a question that may determine our future:What happens when a civilization reaches for the stars before it has learned what to do with its own freedom? As scientists, governments, and the military struggle for control, Daniel, his daughter Maya, and the people who once knew Ari must somehow demonstrate something that may be impossible to prove:that human beings are more than their failures. And that the future does not always have to become what the numbers predict. WHEN THE SKY RETURNED is an emotional science-fiction thriller about memory, friendship, first contact, and what it truly means to be human not in our greatest achievements, but in the choices we make when no one is watching.
