For anyone interested in the art of en plein air painting with either oils or pen and wash, this book offers the experience of a doctor living in New Zealand who gets the opportunity in retirement to revisit his love for painting on location. Each location also stimulates a family memory or research into the history behind the view. The practical details and challenges of painting outdoors are described and the considerable benefits of the experience are emphasised. The majority of locations are centered around the major conurbation of Auckland New Zealand and include both urban and seascapes. However, there are also some international visits including both to the UK and Europe.
