A Journey Toward Recovery from Grief and Trauma: This book is not only a story I had to write for my own sake, but the fulfillment of something my Grandmother wanted to do - help others. I hope that my contributions to her story and adding my own story will accomplish the same thing: to give hope to someone who is hurting and mourning the loss of a loved one, either to death or to dementia - what I call "the grieving before the grieving" - and the resultant trauma. Unfortunately, my story is somewhat harsher than the one my Grandmother told. Although the story is quite painful, it is a story someone else may be facing, and I want that person to understand the deep emotions that come with dementia and trauma and the suffering involved. I want them to know that what they are feeling is normal. Then, I want the reader to see that there is hope! I want you to know that you can come out of your deep sorrow enough to be victorious in the Lord, who can be your strength if you let Him. It's true that you will never be quite the same person you were before your trauma and loss. Yet, while you will never forget your loved one and the time you shared - and actually never completely stop grieving your loss - God can redeem the years lost to you in pain and grief."
