What Will You Do When the World Goes Dark?

Are you prepared? Truly? What would your first steps be? What, and more to the point, who, would you hold close?
That answer for me was bleak-Nothing, and no one.
Like many of you, I'd propped my life up with technological shortcuts that had fueled my career progression. A career spent working on an AI app that I convinced myself would make life easier for all of us.
The reality is, all technology has really done is make us weaker, lazier, and more stupid.
Then comes the literal crash: planes raining from the sky, cars crashing, systems failing.
"Solar Maximus," a series of intense solar flares, killed all power across the planet, and once the reality set in that it wouldn't be coming back, so did the panic.
My silver lining is the family I left when I was just 10 years old.
You see, while I've spent my life working with tech in London, they've been holed up on a homestead in Scotland.
Preaching, praying, and preparing.
Religious nuts, or so I used to think.

Now, they're my only chance of surviving this. If I can get to them.
But that task becomes far more dangerous when it turns out that "Solar Maximus" wasn't the cause of the power loss at all. The whole thing was government-engineered to reset the planet, leaving many countries to die out, and citizens around the world scrambling to reach the countries that were cherry-picked to receive aid.

One of which just happens to be Scotland.
