Winter is here, and Somerton, Wisconsin, is on the precipice of disaster. Emmett Coady, local bricklayer and volunteer monster hunter, knows that all too well. When his best friend, Nyla Jameson, called him over the summer with a massive paranormal problem, Emmett was all too eager to offer his aid. Together with Nyla's new PI boyfriend, Aaron Klein, their friends Sam Fisher and Amelia Bradley, and Aaron's FBI contact Tyler Pratt, they'd refined Chehwinoo-hunting to a reliable science. Now, they need a permanent solution to the threat plaguing the Basin and its nearby residents. Emmett wasn't worried, at first. Tired? Sure. Stressed? Definitely. Worried? Not so much.

Then, Callie entered the picture, throwing Emmett into an emotional tailspin that had him acting like a gym bro on steroids. In other words, an asshole. He wanted- no, he needed to keep Callie safe, but the woman was making it harder than he ever thought possible.

With time running out on an ancient mystery unravelling faster than they can keep up, Emmett has a choice to make. Let Callie into their circle and finally finish what they started in July, or push her away and risk not only his fragile heart, but the future of Somerton as he knows it.
