Capturing the Moment

This isn't a manual on sports photography. There are already countless books, videos, and online tutorials that explain 

techniques, camera settings, and approaches in great detail. The internet - and YouTube in particular - is overflowing with advice for anyone who wants to learn how to shoot sport, from a photographer who has been with Oxford United, Oxford Speedway and many other sports.

What I want to share here is something different. Over the years, working professionally across a range of sports - 

predominantly for Oxford teams from football at the Championship level to Speedway at the Premiership level, and many others - I've built a collection of more than 60,000 images. Within that archive are moments of clarity and chaos, of success and failure, and sometimes the thin line between the two.

This book gathers some of those photographs and the stories that surround them. Each image represents a fragment of 

experience - the light that changed at the last second, the instinct that proved right (or wrong), the frame that captured something fleeting and real. I aim to show not just what worked, but why - and, just as importantly, when it didn't.

So this isn't a how-to book. It's more a reflection on how this was taken, and what each image reveals about the 

unpredictable, exhilarating art of photographing sport, for me, over the past six years.
