CHAIN OF TRUTH

A street, room, vehicle, phone, cloud account, and human memory can all become representations of the same event. Their abundance does not remove uncertainty. It relocates uncertainty into capture rules, clocks, databases, exports, software versions, annotations, and the conditions under which another person sees the result. The governing idea of this book is simple: chain of custody must be extended into a Chain of Truth. The extended chain follows both objects and operations. It asks not merely who held a file, but what measured the event, what was preserved, what was unavailable, which function produced each output, how that function was tested, what context was omitted, and what the courtroom actually received. The framework does not promise certainty. It makes disagreements smaller and more reviewable. Integrity, authenticity, attribution, and meaning are separated. Evidence provenance, method provenance, and competence provenance are recorded together. A finding may then be accepted at one level and disputed at another without forcing the false choice between total trust and total rejection. The Corridor File provides one stipulated event throughout the
book. It is fictional so that every fact can be fixed and every transformation disclosed. Real decisions and documented incidents provide friction beside it. The fictional file teaches the method; the authorities show where law and institutions have already needed it.
