What happens when faith is approached not as belief, but as structure?

Diction II: The Paradox of Faith examines articles of faith through their correspondence with observable phenomena. Rather than explaining faith through doctrine, confession, symbolism, or argument, J. A. Gucci turns to the physical world: systems that persist, transform, fracture, return, conceal, release, and endure.

Each entry begins with a named article of faith and places it in structural correspondence with a physical system, event, condition, or transformation. The phenomenon remains literal. Water remains water. Light behaves as light. A root remains a root. Meaning emerges not through symbolic substitution, but through the observable relationships within the composition.

Written according to the principles of Absolute Composition, the poems are built through compression, observable relation, structural correspondence, threshold behavior, and transformation through arrangement. Causes may be withheld, transitions may occur within white space, and mechanisms may remain unstated, but the governing structure remains recoverable. Interpretation is possible, but structure comes first.

Each composition concludes with a benediction. The benediction does not explain the poem, resolve its tension, or provide a moral. It emerges from the behavior already present, carrying the conditions of the composition beyond observation and into possibility.

Organized in two sections-The Arc of Faith and The Consequences of Faith-the collection moves from the conditions through which faith forms, persists, and becomes observable to what follows when faith enters relation with loss, judgment, suffering, mercy, time, and change.

The result is neither doctrine nor confession, but a structural examination of faith under uncertainty: what persists without proof, what changes without abandoning its nature, and what becomes recognizable when explanation reaches its limit.
