Hardly any other event shook the media world in the spring of 2015 as much as the crash of Germanwings flight 4U9525. Shortly afterwards, when the French public prosecutor's office announced the findings of its investigation - that the co-pilot, Andreas Lubitz, had in all likelihood deliberately caused the plane to crash - his name was soon on everyone's lips. In addition, a number of private photographs and fragments of his biography were published. This disaster and the way it was handled form the basis for this paper. The aim is therefore to examine which ethical standards apply in journalism and whether such detailed reporting on Lubitz meets those standards.
