For Whom We Serve

In 1938, a spy arrives in England with a new name and a deadly mission.
Helmut Schmitt, hardened by Germany's post-war despair, embraces patriotism and service as his creed. Now, as Bernard Bonner, an English gentleman, he infiltrates British society from a Bournemouth boarding house. Trained in combat and radio work, his every observation and carefully managed encounter is a potential asset to German intelligence. As he reports to his ruthless handlers, the stakes escalate with every coded letter drop and every step closer to the influential circles of Lady Edith's daughter, Jennifer.
But as MI5 closes in and arrests expose German networks, Bernard must test his cover and decide which risks are worth taking. The English life he was meant to imitate becomes one he genuinely values, and his growing love for Jennifer makes every act of manipulation a profound betrayal. He will never tell her who he truly is, or the dangerous game he plays. This gripping historical thriller offers an intimate, single-point-of-view journey into the heart of espionage, where duty clashes with a love that can only end in heartbreak.
