GATHERED BEFORE GOD

The Lord's Day often arrives before we feel ready.

Work remains unfinished. Burdens follow us into Sunday. The heart may be weary, distracted, or slow to worship. Yet Christ does not gather His people because they have made themselves spiritually impressive. He gathers those who need mercy, truth, correction, comfort, fellowship, and rest.

Gathered Before God is a 52-week companion created to help ordinary Christians receive the Lord's Day more deliberately, participate in the worship of the church more attentively, hear the Word with faith, and carry what they have heard into the coming week.

Each week follows a simple four-page rhythm:

Prepare - Lay down distractions, confess sin, remember grace, and pray for the church before worship.

Gather - Record the call to worship, songs, Scripture readings, congregational prayers, sermon text, central truth, outline, and applications.

Receive - Reflect on what the passage reveals about God, Christ, the human heart, and the grace announced in His Word.

Respond - Carry the truth into the week through repentance, faith, obedience, prayer, love, and service.

The book is organized around four movements:

This companion is not meant to compete with worship or turn the sermon into material for private self-improvement. It remains in its proper place as a quiet servant of the local church and of Christ's appointed means of grace. Its purpose is not to measure spiritual worth by how many blanks are filled, but to cultivate greater attentiveness to Scripture, deeper participation in gathered worship, more deliberate care for the saints, and faithful obedience beyond Sunday.
