Harper was happy to join her older sister Olivia's Grade 5 school trip to the museum. There a young woman explained that the biosphere, whom she called Bio, contained all life on Earth. Bio needed their help. She gave the students descriptions of ten themes of sustainability and asked them to each pick one and do something good related to that theme. This gave Harper an idea. She told Olivia they should work on all the themes. They agreed to make a list for each theme describing many ways that young people could help Bio.
The next day Olivia's friend Carlos agree to help create the lists. Then Olivia and Carlos asked their teacher if they could do this as a school project with Harper, so their ideas could go to other students. After the teacher agreed, Carlos' older brother Roberto surprised him by saying he would help too. They now had a team, and the project was becoming a book. Olivia's friend, Adelaide, made the pictures with her younger sisters. Together, they created Helping Bio: A Young Person's Guide to Sustainability. They learned things about themselves in the process. This is their story.
