In Jesus and the Lost Goddess, Timothy Freke and Peter Gandy take their ideas about the pagan origins of Christianity in a startling new direction. Their ground-breaking work adds a new element to the controversy surrounding the origins of the New Testament.Their arguments unlock the secret of the Christian myth of Jesus and the Goddess, which tells of a Goddess who falls from grace and is rescued through her union with a Godman. The stories of Jesus and Mary Magdalene, they argue, can be traced directly to this story. This Gnostic allegory -- suppressed, according to their research, by the early Roman church -- is again brought to light. This astonishing book reexamines the ancient wisdom of the early Christians and demonstrates its relevance to the world today.
