Old Testament in the Basaa Language of Cameroon by Pierre Emmanuel Njock

Discover the Old Testament translated into the Basaa language of Cameroon by Pierre Emmanuel Njock (PEN). Educated at the Evangelical Missions Institute, PEN later pursued higher studies in Heidelberg, Strasbourg, and Laval, earning a Ph.D. in Linguistics.

PEN has held various academic and administrative roles, including positions at Laval University, University of Yaoundé, and as Principal of the Evangelical College of Libamba. He co-founded CABTAL and was a member of the Wycliffe International Board. In 1995, he founded the Basaa Language Subcommittee (SCOBA) and became the first President of the Basaa Language Committee (COLƁA) in 1998.

This translation of the Old Testament is a result of years of dedication and linguistic expertise, providing Basaa speakers direct access to sacred texts in their native language.

Découvrez l'Ancien Testament traduit en langue ɓàsàa du Cameroun par Pierre Emmanuel Njock (PEN). Issu de l'Institut des Missions Evangélique (IME), devenu le Collège Evangélique de Libamba en 1958, PEN y apprend le solfège et l'analyse des versets bibliques sous la direction du Révérend R. Peirce, coordinateur de la traduction de la Bible en Bassa, Kaat Nyambe. Après son Baccalauréat en 1961, il poursuit des études supérieures à l'Université de Heidelberg, à Strasbourg et à Laval, obtenant une Licence ès Lettres, une Maîtrise en Didactique des Langues, et un Ph.D en Linguistique.

PEN a occupé divers postes académiques et administratifs, notamment à l'Université Laval, à l'Université de Yaoundé, et en tant que Principal du Collège Evangélique de Libamba. Co-fondateur de CABTAL, il a également été membre du Wycliffe International Board. En 1995, il fonde le Sous Comité de Langue Ɓàsàa (SCOBA) et en 1998, il devient le premier Président du Comité de Langue Ɓàsàa (COLƁA).

Cette traduction de l'Ancien Testament est le fruit d'années de dévouement et d'expertise linguistique, offrant aux locuteurs ɓàsàa un accès direct aux textes sacrés dans leur langue maternelle.
