Life Is A School

About The Book

Maureen Rechner entered the world carrying a loss she was too young to understand.

Adopted from a Catholic orphanage at six months old, she grew up knowing she had been chosen, yet still longed to understand where she came from. That early wound followed her into adulthood, shaping her relationships, weakening her boundaries, and fueling a deep fear of abandonment.

Her search for love and belonging led her through marriage, motherhood, divorce, family conflict, personal sacrifice, and years of caring for others. Then, on Halloween, a devastating phone call changes everything. Her son is fighting for his life, and the months that follow will test the limits of hope, medicine, motherhood, and human endurance.

Raw and deeply personal, [missing book title] is a memoir about adoption, identity, trauma, family, sacrifice, and resilience. Above all, it is the story of a woman who learns that true healing begins when she stops abandoning herself.
