Live Velvet

What happens when you become so good at taking care of everything and everyone that you stop making room for yourself?

In Live Velvet: The Imperfect Path to Becoming You, Scott Beal reflects on a life shaped by ambition, responsibility, relationships, loss, and reinvention. He knew how to work hard, provide, and perform. The more he defined himself by what he could do for others, the less space he left to discover who else he might become.

With honesty, humor, and hard-earned perspective, Scott shares what it took to recognize that pattern as his own. He had to face the resentment that came with always putting himself last, and the uncomfortable truth that no one else had made that choice for him.

For the first time in a long time, he began showing up as himself instead of playing a part in everyone else's story. Live Velvet is a candid memoir about finding yourself through imperfect choices, changed relationships, and the courage to develop parts of yourself you set aside along the way.

In a world that rarely asks us to slow down, Scott's story invites readers to pause and examine their own lives. For anyone who has spent years doing what needed to be done while quietly wondering where they fit in, it offers a hopeful possibility: making room for yourself can change how you live and enable you to more fully connect with others.
