Mazeppa The Wolfhound

Mazeppa the Wolfhound: Book 1 is a story about saluqis, one of the oldest breeds of dogs to befriend humans about seven thousand years ago. They even outlast the swiftest dog in the world, the greyhound, if the course is a long-distance marathon in the desert; and are as sublime and beauteous as any breed one cares to name. Some folks react when they see a saluqi as if they are like Greek statues come to life--so classic is their form.

This story, however, is set in modern times, between WWI and WWII, in the south of the United States. It tells of Mazeppa's life on earth with his earthly family and human friends, his heroic ending, and his noble passage on the rainbow bridge to his entry into the starlight beyond all that we mere humans know.

It's a story about immortality, the perfection of being, family, and good and evil. It's about the avoidable and unavoidable realities of life and how Mazeppa, his family, and friends react to and are transformed for better or worse by his presence among them.

It's about me sayin', "I wish I could be more like my dogs. Then I'd know for certain I'd be goin' to Heaven when I die."
