The annual Honeybell Harbor Crown Bake-Off is supposed to save pastry chef Josie Fisher's struggling bakery.

Instead, it may send her to prison.

Celebrity food critic Graham Porter takes one bite of Josie's signature pastry and dies from poison. The fatal serving came from her tray. The poison container is discovered among her supplies. Witnesses heard Graham threaten to disqualify her shortly before the tasting.

To Deputy Hallie Daniels, the evidence looks painfully clear.

Hallie locks down the competition kitchen and calls the state police. They will arrive in four hours, and Josie knows exactly who they will arrest unless she can prove someone altered Graham's individual serving and framed her for murder.

Including Josie, thirteen people were inside the restricted kitchen: four competing pastry chefs and nine assistants and managers. Every one of them had something to gain, something to hide, or a reason to fear what Graham planned to reveal.

Now Josie must use her pastry expertise to reconstruct the crime. Temperatures, textures, tray movements, ingredient records, photographs, and witness statements become thirteen sequential clues. Each clue exposes a secret and eliminates one possible killer.
