When we were living through this ourselves, we found that many stories didn't quite fit our circumstances. So we changed words, softened phrases, skipped pages, and reshaped the stories to match what felt right for our family and to honour the devastating loss of our boy. We encourage you to do the same with this book. Please make it yours.

Read slowly. Pause when needed. Let your child lead. Follow their cues. Create gentle rituals like lighting a candle, holding a special teddy, looking at photos or stepping outside together to notice the sky.

There is no "right" way to do this. Your child does not need perfect words, they need you.
