Oathrising

Aratian Ulthorn has spent his life dreaming of becoming a great knight. Despite being one of the weakest students in his class, he refuses to give up on his dream-or the memory of the parents who sacrificed themselves to protect him. But Aratian carries a secret that could change his fate: a powerful Soulbeast is sealed within his soul, waiting for the chance to break free.

Sessna Unger has a very different reason for pursuing the path of knighthood. After her clan was slaughtered, she dedicated herself to becoming strong enough to uncover the truth and take revenge on those responsible. Now, as one of Highland's most powerful young pages, she finally has an opportunity to put her strength to the test.

When the legendary Tournament of Squires returns to Highland, pages from across the kingdom gather to compete for the chance to advance toward knighthood. For Aratian, Sessna, and their friends, it should be a chance to prove themselves.

Instead, they find themselves facing mysterious rivals who have grown impossibly strong in a single Cycle, a legendary knight with a hidden agenda, and secrets reaching deep into Highland's history.

As the tournament progresses, friendly competition gives way to increasingly dangerous battles. Aratian must learn to control the monster within him, while Sessna is forced to confront how far she is willing to go for revenge.

What begins as a tournament quickly becomes a struggle that could determine the fate of Highland-and force a group of young pages to discover what it truly means to become knights.
