Route Transmission & Control Applications and Java Web Services manuscript contain the research work, evaluating the feasibility of using Java Web Services in the area of geospatial location and route monitoring. It discuses the cost advantages of using Web Services by describing previous and traditional approaches, followed by a comparative analysis of these for a small scale project. A reference software implementation is presented to illustrate the validity of the GPRS /SOAP Web Services approach. Furthermore, some guidelines to extend this approach to technologies (SOAP envelop XML compression, Smart mobile client, Quality of service, Web Service security) are given.
