THE BACK SIDE OF THINGS

Vera has spent most of her life photographing what other people ignore: the backs of pictures, the undersides of furniture, the hidden surfaces of ordinary things.

She never thought she was looking for anything.

Then, while examining an old family photograph, she notices a tiny geometric mark where no mark should be. Soon she finds another. And another.

The deeper Vera searches her archive, the harder coincidence becomes to believe. The marks cross years, cities, and objects that should have nothing in common. Some lead back to her father, a brilliant architect whose final years were shadowed by an obsession no one in the family wanted to discuss.

But the most disturbing possibility is not that her father knew about the pattern.

It is that he was trying to stop it.

As Vera turns her attention toward the hidden side of her own past, the distinction between observation and obsession begins to disappear. And one question becomes impossible to avoid:

What if some things remain hidden not because we fail to see them, but because seeing them is exactly what they need?
