The Boy Who Wanted to Be a Deer is a fantastic and unusual story for all ages about growing up with deep and dark fears. Its art is beautiful, and its message is deep.
One day, Tommy asks himself what he wants to be when he grows up. His parents think he should be an accountant. His friends want to be doctors and engineers. Tommy, however, doesn't want to be an accountant, doctor, or engineer. What he truly wants will never be accepted by his family or friends.
"An enjoyable book and cautionary tale about pursuing what makes you happy [versus] what is safe" - Amazon Customer
For kids, the message is clear. Don't be afraid to go after what you really want, no matter what. For adults, it's a look into the ways we have been disconnected from what makes us truly happy and all the regrets that come with it. But for everyone regardless of age, it's a confirmation of the idea that it's never too late.
